What are the advantages of a tilting saw?
Tilting saws are not called firewood saws for nothing. The circular saws are designed for cutting large pieces of wood and are particularly suitable for forestry applications, but also for private firewood processing. The biggest advantages of a tilting saw:
- Efficiency: Even large quantities of wood are processed quickly and precisely. Thanks to the clean cuts, wood loss is very low.
- Safety: The tilting design keeps the material stable, which reduces the risk of kickbacks and injuries.
- Reliability: Rocking saws are very robust and sturdily built. The robust machines are designed for continuous use.
What distinguishes a tilting saw from a conventional circular saw?
The main difference between a tilting saw and a conventional circular saw is its tilting mechanism. With a tilting saw, the wood is placed on a swivelling support, which is pressed against the rotating saw blade. Thick branches, large pieces of wood and even tree trunks are processed with safe and effective cuts. In contrast, a conventional circular saw has a fixed saw blade and the wood is fed past it manually, which can be more difficult and less safe with large pieces of wood. On the other hand, tilting saws are not suitable for angled or mitre cuts, for example. For these, a cross-cut saw is required - a circular saw with a swivelling arm.
